Too Good To Go – A danish company that fights again food waste

I. Introduction

“Reducing food waste is one of the most important things we can do to reverse global warming.”- Chad Frischmann, Climate Change Expert

Restaurant waste a lot of food at the end of the day because they can’t sell it the day after, even if the food was good for human. That’s why it was important to develop an app to reduce the waste.

  • 1/3 of food produced in the entire world is wasted
  • 8% of greenhouse gas emissions is caused by waste

II. The Concept of the app

There is also an access to the map to see all the restaurants location.

So clients are attracted for two reasons their ecological awareness and limit food costs.

 “Each year in France, 10 million tons of food consumable by humans are thrown in the trash” (Martin, 2017).

That’s why it’s important to internationalize this project.

III. Globaliaztion

Lucie Basch developed the app for France, as an entrepreneur, in 2016. The French app count 8,5 million of users and more than 17 thousand restaurants.

The app is now available in 14 Europeans countries and since September in the united states. Then, the app will be launch in other countries and more in Eastern Europe.

The company permitted to save more than 60 millions meals in 50 000 point of sales, thanks to their 32 million of users in the world.

This subject of waste food, is a world issue, concerning food directly because the united nations have a goal of reducing food waste by 50% by 2030 (Baron, 2021). But it’s also an ecologic issue.

Conclusion

To conclude on the internationalization strategy of Too Good To Go, we can say that the app is developing thanks to entrepreneurs in each country.

The stages of internationalization :

  • Translate the app
  • Find partner restaurants
  • Promote the app to customers

=> Reduce food waste
